| MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
Master of Business Administration is a modular programme: Post-graduate Diploma in Management (eleven courses), followed by specialisation stream (five course). Thereafter, successful completion of two integrative courses, a project, and an elective courses leads to the award of an MBA degree. The learners must be graduates with three years experience at supervisory level. The admission to the programme is taken in both January and July sessions. The programme consists of 21 courses. A. All the eleven courses in PGDIM (MS-1 to MS-11) B. Five courses from the selected Specialisation Stream C. Five Integrative courses: Compulsory (MS-91 and MS-95), project course equivalent to two courses and one elective course (MS-92/93/94/96/97) D. Integrative Courses A learner has to complete five Integrative courses, two Compulsory, one Elective (out of five courses), and a Project which is equivalent to two courses.
MASTER OF ARTS (ECONOMICS) The programme offers an opportunity to learners for higher studies in Economics. Besides, offering the core courses available in other universities, it includes courses in some of the emerging areas in Economics such as insurance, finance and computer applications that are expected to be extremely useful in the present scenario of economic liberalization and globalization.
MASTER OF ARTS (PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION) The programme deals with the theories of the State, Society and Public Administration. It discusses, various aspects of management pertaining to human resources and public systems. It provides a detailed discourse on Indian administration and covers areas related to public policy, disaster management, e-governance and decentralized governance. All the courses are of eight credits each, except two courses (Electronic Governance and Disaster Management which are of four credits each and both are to be taken together. Besides, there is also project work worth eight credits.
MASTER OF ARTS (SOCIOLOGY) The MA programme is Sociology is designed to provide advanced sociological knowledge, perspectives, and skills to a wide cross-section of learners, including those in remote inaccessible areas. In terms of content, it focuses on classical and advanced concepts and theories, research methods and perspectives, the contemporary state of sociology in India, education, migration, urbanization, and the issues of development. Against this backdrop the programme aims to reflect on (i) the rapid processes of social transformation (caused by globalization, penetration of ICT, expansion of new frontiers of knowledge, paradigm shift in development strategy, holocaust of global terrorism, resurgence of local resistance against domination, grass-roots assertion of marginalized groups to share power and development), (ii) issues involved in the process of development, (iii) various theories, concepts and methods applied to, comprehend these processes, (iv) social process and their inter linkages with global, regional and local manifestations. The programme is available in both Hindi and English. This is a 64 credits programme with compulsory and elective courses. The student has to take compulsory and elective courses. The student has to take compulsory courses worth 32 credits in the first year and optional worth 32 credits in the second year.
MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT, MA (RD) The Master's Programme in Rural Development is a unique programme, which ensures rural orientation to every learner. This programme aims at providing extensive knowledge and information pertaining to various aspects of rural development in the Indian context. Apart from providing an integrated understanding of the factors and issues associated with rural development, this programme also introduces the learner to research methods in rural development. A crucial component of this programme is a dissertation based on empirical research in rural areas. This programme (66 credits) has five compulsory and six elective courses. Each course, except the dissertation is worth six credits. The dissertation is worth 12 credits.
